Founded in 1990, Polycom is the only company today delivering end-to-end rich media collaborative applications for voice, video, data and the web from desktop and mobile personal systems to room systems to the network core. Our vision is to enable people to connect anytime, anyplace and with any device in a virtual experience as natural as being there.
In addition to being the worldwide leader in market share for best in class group and personal video systems, video and voice collaboration infrastructures and conference phones, Polycom also has the only solution for delivering Unified Collaborative Communications – the convergence of voice, video, data and web – known as The Polycom Office.
Polycom is at the center of the industry shift to broadband networks. IP networks enable the proliferation and convergence of richer communications, including video, which enhance the quality of our lives, create new opportunities, and are fast becoming the foundation for how we work.
PolyCom's full range of high-quality, easy to deploy, manage and use voice and video communications endpoints, video management software, web conferencing software, multi-network gateways and multipoint conferencing enable organizations of all sizes to increase productivity and agility. Polycom delivers business value by cutting costs, simplifying system management, fostering real time collaboration and decision making, and improving relationships with employees, customers and partners.
Polycom’s expertise in delivering proven collaborative solutions is a result of its history:
February 2001 Polycom acquired Accord Networks, a leading provider of next-generation, rich-media network infrastructure products. The acquisition expanded Polycom's offerings to include multipoint control units, firewalls and gateways.
October 2001, Polycom completed its acquisition of PictureTel Corporation, adding to its product line the world's leading PC-based group video communications architecture.
January, 2004 Polycom added Voyant Technologies, offering best-in-class products to service providers, carriers or enterprises wanting to provide collaborative, enhanced voice applications to internal or external customers.
